While Arte Lyrica has produced both opera and narrated song concerts for enthusiastic audiences since 1995, for several years now we've specialized in classical song.

We’ve produced two operas that were Boston-area opera premieres—Handel's Rodelinda, and Lee Hoiby's Bon Appetit!, but we've fallen in love with song literature, not only classical but also some of the great songs from film, jazz, and Broadway. We like duets, too, and we still sing the occasional aria or opera duet of course!

It’s been said we fill a special niche in Boston-area concerts with our narrations. We’re intrigued with composers’ and poets’ lives, how their times affected them, and the cities where they lived and worked. We spend months researching these backstories for our narrations so our audience can enjoy them too. Narrations are researched and written by our artistic director, mezzo-soprano Susan Cooke, and read between songs by Lisa Mullins (host of The World on WGBH Radio 89.7 FM).
